2005-2006 SHPE-LA Strategic Plan

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Increase Membership by 100% in the next 12 months.
  2. Establish 4 workshops to provide professional and personal development
  3. Hold quarterly networking lunch events
  4. Hold 2 professional networking events
  5. Establish partnerships & affiliations with other community and professional organizations
  6. Promote and nominate members to public boards
  7. Establish human resources committee to assist in job placement.
  8. Identify and Recruit Executive members

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

  1. Promote Parent Education Awareness
  2. Create Community Resource Guide
  3. Publish and circulate SHPE-LA Newsletter - 1 per quarter
  4. Create Mentoring Opportunities  Middle School/High School

CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT

  1. Develop a policy & procedures manual.
  2. Establish monthly status on annual plan.
  3. Oversight committee to assess & ensure proper execution of SHPE LA's bylaws, policies, and procedures.
  4. Develop a fundraising plan to raise $150k.
  5. Have an external affairs liaison to elected officials, public agencies & community organizations.
  6. Develop a membership recruitment plan.

EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. Designate Student Representative (by August 14th).
  2. Create Master Calendar of student activities.
  3. Raise $100k in Scholarships.
  4. Participate in events for Pre-College/SHPE Jr. Chapter.
  5. Conduct Discipline Seminar (1 per semester).
  6. Create and update Industry Contact Database
  7. Organize Company Tours
  8. Select best student chapter under the umbrella of SHPE-LA
  9. Select best student member under the umbrella of SHPE-LA

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  1. Establish Business development committee with active members.
  2. Provide 2 workshops for Business Development.
  3. Disseminate information on upcoming contracts & opportunities (newsletter, email).
